TOP TEN’s history in kickboxing, and why your discipline determines the equipment you need.

HISTORY AND RULES.
Between rounds, attention turns to the corner. The coach gives brief instructions. The athlete listens. Equipment has already been checked before the bout begins. Approval systems help make that part of competition predictable.
A connection dating back to 1983
TOP TEN’s brand history records an international debut at the 1983 WAKO World Championships in London. Early protective equipment used BayFlex material; leather-covered designs followed. Equipment development and competitive kickboxing have shared a long history.
Approved for which discipline?
Start with the discipline and event. A point-fighting athlete and someone entering a ring bout should not share an equipment list without checking the requirements. Ask your coach about hand protection, headgear, shin and foot protection, clothing and any age-specific protection.
WAKO’s equipment scheme covers suppliers and equipment. Its published overview lists TOP TEN as a platinum sponsor for 2024–2027. You still need to check the exact model and variant intended for use.
Read the rules alongside the invitation
WAKO publishes its main rules, equipment book and subsequent amendments separately. The rules portal also contains 2026 changes. Read these documents together with the event invitation. An old product photo or equipment list may miss a change relevant to your event.
Before ordering
Write down the discipline, age group, model number, colour and size. Ask your coach or organiser to confirm the list, then take it to your dealer.
